The Greatest Love Story Ever Told?

I just read something that says Twilight is the "greatest love story ever told".

Wow. Really?

Pretty strong statement. There are a lot of good love stories out there after all! So I figured I would ask - do YOU think Twilight is the "greatest love story ever told"? Or even as good as the greats.

If so, why? If not, why not?

No flames here, you can even make up a name if you want to stay anonymous (it may allow anon. comments, I don't know). Of course I have my own opinion on this! I would just like to hear from others.

I've never read Twilight so I can't comment. My favorite love type story is from Edward Scissorhands. Just so sweet and sad.

Twilight ... Greatest love story? Meh! It was a good story, but it doesn't compete with Anthony and Cleopatra or Romeo and Juliette. Neither of the characters are really tragic, IMHO.

(I love Edward Scissorhands too)

Was this a trick question or something?! All these page views and 2 answers. Oh well. One person told me it's obvious I am not into Twilight or I wouldn't have asked, so no one is going to answer. It's true I am not into Twilight, but I was honestly just trying to understand. Oh well.

I didn't read the books or see the movies. I think any true love story would carry more weight than one about a vampire and a werewolf, though.

I did read all the Twilight books. Maybe if you were a teen, which I think the books were actually written for, it could be the greatest love story ever told. But as time goes by and you continue reading, you will find others that you will laugh and cry over. Twilight didn't do that for me.

It has the standard trappings of a classic love story. Nice person drawn to bad match and good person drawn to nice person. The classic triangle. I guess for me it just isn't "classic" enough. The vampire/werewolf thing is a distraction. What's the real conflict? We know she isn't going to turn to the nice guy, so where's the drama. The stories were appealing, but written too much for the teen audience for my tastes. My middleschool daughter went gaga over them. Enough said?
